Camatkarasana aka wild thing pose, has always been one of my favorite poses to do and to teach. It was actually one of the first poses I’ve ever taught. In my college yoga class, we all had to find a pose and come in and teach it to the rest of the class—practicing teaching as well as learning. One of the first poses I ever taught was wild thing because I thought it looked so lovely and the transition into it was so much fun and so much easier than it looked. Because of that I used to call it my party trick pose 😜 (at Beach Bee Yoga)
Day 16: Courage
Dolphin Pose / Makarasana
Inversions scare me, honestly. They make me feel loss of control and confidence. I especially dislike preparation poses because they aren’t quite the real thing, yet have you awkwardly upside down, awaiting the inevitable fate of falling on your face.
Most times I am all together discouraged from trying things that I’m afraid of or I don’t feel quite strong enough to do. Quite the contrary happened this morning. I just said to myself, “LET’S DO THIS THING” 😤
I know that there will be plenty more face plants before I am ready to try Pincha. All I do is take things in stride. It’s not about perfection or even being the strongest; it’s about pushing your limits and conquering those fears.
